A group of concerned citizens gathered yesterday to protest against the cutting down of trees on Dhanmondi Satmasjid Road. The protest was led by the President of the Meeting, Ms. Sultana Kamal, along with the Managing Director of their own organization, Mr. Khushi Kabir, the Managing Director of Bela, Ms. Sayeda Rizwana Hasan, the Coordinator of Green Voice, Mr. Alamgir Kabir, and the Co-Coordinator, Mr. Humayun Kabir Sumon, along with other local leaders.

The protestors expressed their concern about the cutting down of these trees, which have been an integral part of the area for decades. They emphasized the importance of trees in maintaining ecological balance, reducing pollution, and providing shade and beauty to the surroundings. They also highlighted the negative impact of deforestation on climate change, biodiversity, and human health.

The protestors called upon the authorities to halt the cutting down of trees immediately and take measures to protect the existing trees. They urged the government to adopt a more sustainable approach to development that balances economic growth with environmental protection.

The protestors also appealed to the public to raise awareness about the importance of trees and their role in sustaining life on Earth. They stressed the need for collective action to protect the environment and ensure a sustainable future for generations to come.

The protest ended with a call for action and a commitment to continue the fight to protect the environment and the trees that are so vital to our existence.
