On "National Oxygen Protection Day," Green Voice organizes a student and youth protest against tree cutting.

On May 7, 2023, in conjunction with the celebration of Natural Oxygen Protection Day 2023, a student protest was held on Satmosjid Road, organized by Green Voice against the indiscriminate cutting of trees. The event was led by the coordinator of Green Voice, Alamgir Kabir, and co-coordinator Humayun Kabir Sumon.

At the gathering, prominent speakers from various fields including the head of the Bangladesh Environmental Lawyers Association (BELA), Syeda Rizwana Hasan; actor and director Mamunur Rashid; former student leader, writer and columnist Rustam Ali Khokon; co-editor of the Bangladesh Environmental Movement (BAPA) Mihir Biswas; Shirin Akhter from the Women's Forum; coordinator of the Satmosjid Road tree protection movement, Amirol Rajib; climate policy researcher Zakir Hossen; committee member of BAPA, Dr. Mahbub Hapsen; and Ibnu Saied Rana, expressed their views on the importance of preserving trees to maintain ecological balance.

The event was attended by a large number of students, including members of the Student Union, who marched on Satmosjid Road and chanted slogans demanding the protection of trees. The speakers emphasized that trees are the lifeline of our planet and play a crucial role in purifying the air we breathe by producing oxygen. They urged the authorities to take immediate action to stop tree-cutting, especially in urban areas, and instead promote afforestation to maintain a healthy and sustainable environment for future generations.

The protest was a resounding success, drawing attention to the urgent need for tree preservation, and sending a strong message to all stakeholders to prioritize environmental protection in their agendas.
